IT'S ALL HAPPENING - FULL SWING

Wow, what a day.

Paula Newby Fraser is co-hosting IronmanLive this year with myself and we taped some great stuff today. First we stole a VW Toureg, What a nice rig! We usually get our Course explorer done in around 5-6 hours, as we cover the whole course even Hawi.

This time however, with some decent horses under the bonnet (hood for you Yankee’s and Canucks) and we cranked out the show in just over 3 hours. It also helps when the queen of Kona is giving you probably the best information possible; after all, she won it 8 times! (She was bloody good, still is, she won Ironman Korea this year, her 24th win)

On www.ironmanlive.com under the video tab, look for the course explorer and check it out, cool stuff!

The day was a little different than earlier in the week and the past. It rained heavy in town, something we don’t see often in October, but word from the local Bra’s say that they have had significant rain this year. If that’s the case, its gunna be humid, and hydration is key. Come to think of it, Gatorade brought out Endurance this year, it’s a great way to re-hydrate as it has more sodium and more calories making this the perfect drink in Kona, after all it was developed by for the Florida Gators sports teams who train and play in the countries most humid conditions.

The parade was at 5pm and I was the grand Marshall. What a thrill, and I am very grateful to WTC for this opportunity.

Well, 4:55pm the first of many down pours occurred, it was fantastic, the sky just went black and it was raining cats and dogs. After it stopped, all of 2 min’s later, the skies opened up and the most brilliant Rainbow was shining brightly on the Palace, how incredible is that?

The streets and Alii Drive were packed, it was like race day and I believe all the people you participated really enjoyed it, but also it may have signaled that the race of many of their dreams was just days away. Tuesday in my book is family day. The parade, registration, the Expo and the taper is in full swing.

It’s now time to reflect on the sacrifices you made, whether it is family, work or social, now is the time to rest up and visualize the day ahead. You should fall into a meditative state going thru your day ahead with a plan that includes a nutritional plan, a goal of making the finish line, but the biggest belief of all is yourself. You have this wonderful opportunity, an opportunity that hundreds of thousands would die for, but now, its your time. If you’re racing, good luck, if you’re spectating in Kona, stay hydrated and if

you’re watching from home, then get ready for 18 hours of non stop action from here.

OK, slightly off track here.

Wednesday promises to be another day of training but the pro athletes are doing several book signings, appearances and clinics. The expo will be full today. Lori Bowden Heather Fuhr Luke Bell and company will be on stage during the day.

Tomorrow is the carbo Party which will be live at www.ironmanlive.com and once again go to live coverage and it will be up. It starts at 6pm so don’t miss it, some little Aussie bloke is getting inducted into the hall of fame.

OK, more later, have a good one.
